About Healing Yoga

Michelle Pendleton’s background and life experience led her to learn and teach Healing Yoga. She has been involved in the movement arts all her life. This started with the study and practice of ballet, jazz dance and cheerleading in her youth.

She competed in bodybuilding competitions in her 20s and was an aerobics, fitness and Tae Kwon Do black belt kickboxing instructor for two decades. She stumbled on a power yoga tape in 1995 and was amazed by how connected it made her feel to her body and senses.

Michelle’s training and experience

The powerful experience of being steeped in the present stuck with Michelle until she decided to pursue being a certified yoga teacher in 2006 (Joy of Yoga Certification). She then went on to become a Yoga Medicine® Registered Therapeutic Specialist with a focus and a deeper understanding of anatomy, physiology and the integration of eastern and western methodologies.

Healing the pain that binds you

Michelle has the first-hand experience with chronic pain and worked for years to recover. She was diagnosed with multilevel disc degenerative disease in 2010. Living with pain forced her to enter physical therapy and chiropractic treatment. By experimenting with various mobility, strength training, yoga, and meditation techniques, she pieced together a pain-elimination puzzle.

She was told by a surgeon to stop running and doing yoga, which motivated her to pursue the next phase of growth. She began with daily journaling and meditation to develop greater self-awareness and trust. Then she explored alternative nutritional and medical treatments to unravel life-long health challenges through a holistic practice. Her newfound joy, strength, and well being compelled her to share her insights and passion with others.
